He sounds like he is a psychopath. He gloated about killing prisoners of war in the army and would draw pictures of coppers being shot in prison.

As a 12 year old I stood on the north bank when the 'Harry Roberts is our friend' ditty was first sung. It was always followed by a bunch of teens from towards the back getting slung out, and doing the walk of shame/pride. At the time I was daft enough to think it was funny. I'm not so sure something like this would be sung now. Anyway, the vicious old cunt should be left to rot inside.

It's not sung mainly because cops are hardly seen in grounds any more, all stewards now

Re: Harry Roberts

I remember that being sung on the NB most matches in the seventies. Seemed like during every home game there would be a couple of coppers nicking a someone up the back of the the NB for no apparent reason and escorting them out around the pitch. They just seemed to like asserting their authority.

Funnily enough the old bill got more irate when we started singing you can stick your walkie talkie up your arse.

Sang that song on the north bank. Not big, not clever but that was football in the '60s. Would probably be banned for life now.

This is a story about him from The Telegraph, 2009:
Harry Roberts, who shot dead three unarmed officers in 1966, orchestrated a five-year campaign of intimidation intended to silence Joan Cartwright and her son James.
Mrs Cartwright, 65, said that he had threatened her because he suspected her of being responsible for helping to deny him parole.
The triple murderer was moved from an open prison to a closed jail in 2001 shortly after working on day release with Mrs Cartwright at an animal sanctuary.
A year later she began receiving intimidating calls from Roberts up to five times a week for nearly four years.
These coincided with a series of sickening attacks on animals at the sanctuary that included a horse being battered with an iron bar, a donkey having its pelvis shattered and a peacock being strangled. The family's pet cat was also electrocuted.
Details of the killer's reign of terror emerged after an injunction was lifted in the High Court last week, allowing Mrs Cartwright to talk about her ordeal for the first time.
She criticised the Prison Service for allowing Roberts to conduct his campaign from behind bars and for failing to protect her family.
It was not until 2006 that the authorities installed a security system at her home, she said.
Roberts, who is one of Britain's longest-serving prisonersm could be released on parole this summer when he will face a final hearing on whether he still poses a risk to the public.
He failed in an appeal in 2005 over the use of secret evidence to keep him in jail.
